Correlations between soil properties

Subject to a certain amount of caution when generalizing correlations established on one site to the rest of the site or to other sites, the use of correlations is a very useful technique for advancing geotechnical field studies, and its use can be recommended both to complete data and to check the plausibility of the results of tests carried out in situ or in the laboratory: data conforming to correlations, both general and established on site, are in fact more plausible than those which are too far removed from them, and for which additional checks are always desirable.
