Standard NF P 94 500 of November 2013 defines the general framework for the sequence of geotechnical engineering assignments to be carried out as part of the construction of a structure.

These missions are organized in 3 successive stages:

• preliminary studies ;

• design studies ;

• completion of the work.

Geotechnical engineering assignments are generally undertaken after the building permit has been obtained. See table 6
