6. Shale utilization

As a preliminary point, it should be remembered that reference should always be made to the recommendations of the GTR guide, supplemented by details given in regional guides, principally that of Nord-Pas-de-Calais (PREDIS), as well as to a number of standards cited in the presentation.

6.1 Fields of application

General conditions of use for coal shale

Fascicule 2 of the GTR defines the general conditions for using class F₃₁ and F₃₂ shale in fill and subgrade (tables 7 and ).
