1. Application of sustainable development to construction
The most common definition of sustainable development is "development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs" (Brundtland Commission –, 1987). Put more simply, the challenge of sustainable development is to meet the needs of current generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
