Glass pathologies in the building industry

Laminated glass defects (spalling and delamination) are most often related to assembly faults.

Bubbling and delamination are often the result of poor bonding during lamination and/or autoclave operations, which are important phases in laminated assembly. Delamination can be caused on site by a poorly drained rebate, or by failure to protect the edge of a laminate exposed to the elements (as on balconies, etc.) (table 5 ).
