INTRODUCTION
Insulating glass units (IGUs) are hermetically sealed, factory-prefabricated units comprising one or more immobile gas blades enclosed between two or more sheets of glass. Air is the most commonly used gas, but other more efficient gases are increasingly being used: argon, krypton, xenon and sulfur hexafluoride.
It's the thermal resistance of this immobile blade of gas that gives the glazing its thermal insulation properties.
