INTRODUCTION
By recalling the functions assigned to the various masonry structures and setting out the resulting requirements, this article describes the constructive provisions for these structures. In particular, for exterior walls, the principles governing water and air tightness, which have inspired developments in masonry design in recent years, are defined in detail.
