2. Properties of mined rocks
Aggregates derive most of their properties from the rocks from which they originate, particularly all their intrinsic characteristics, i.e., those that depend on mineralogical composition and petrographic texture.
2.1 Basic minerals
Rocks are composed of assemblages of minerals. The most common minerals in the Earth's crust are silicates (approximately 90%). The rest includes carbonates, metal oxides, sulfates, sulfides, etc.
