3. Conclusion
After a presentation of the main load-bearing element of a running girder, the overhead crane, this article describes the various technical solutions used in practice for the production of running girders and the design of their supports in relation to the configuration of the overhead crane to be supported.
But we can't be exhaustive, and the particularities of each project may lead to the adoption of construction systems that vary from those described here.
The main checks required to validate a rolling beam section were also presented. While a few years ago, the normative context was relatively unclear, we can only be satisfied with the current European regulatory framework, which today allows us to have calculation codes and execution rules that are mutually homogeneous for overhead crane structures and handling equipment.
