2. Special features of thin steels for envelopes

Initially reduced to iron sheets succinctly painted, tarred or galvanized by hand, flat steels have developed considerably in construction.

Architects are now free to design envelopes using galvanized, pre-painted and stainless steel products with a wide range of textures, as well as self-levelling steels such as Indaten and Corten.

This first chapter takes stock of the raw materials available.
