ABSTRACT
Steel facades are used for all types of buildings. Build from galvanized, colour coated, stainless, weathering and enamelled steels, they were less popular than metal roofing, which provided immediate solutions for the roofing of large buildings without drastically changing their architectural style.
Initially reserved for industrial buildings, steel walls have gradually conquered other segments of construction to impose themselves as well in new or rehabilitated buildings facades. This success can be explained by the variety of the available technical solutions that meet the thermal and acoustic insulation requirements required by current code of practice, as well as the durability of the available products, whose shapes and colours offer a very wide range of choices.
