Clay tile roofs - Canal tiles

The types of tile covered by this document are defined, illustrated and characterized in paragraph 1 of the fascicule [C 3 520] .

Clay roof tiles are designed to be laid on three main types of support:

• continuous supports (wood, masonry or terracotta);

• discontinuous supports along the line of steepest slope (triangular or non-triangular rafters);

• discontinuous wooden batten-type supports, perpendicular to the line of greatest slope, for plain tiles with tenon(s).
