2. Thermal interactions between the ground and a thermal geostructure
Heat exchange between the thermal geostructure and the ground can serve two purposes:
or immediate use of the land's thermal resources;
or a deferred use of this thermal resource, in which case the aim is to store "heat" in summer for recovery in winter and, conversely, to store "cold" in winter for recovery in summer.
In both cases, it is essential to understand the energy exchanges between the thermal geostructure and the ground, which can take place in two distinct ways: firstly, by conduction, and secondly, by advection due to the presence of one or more groundwater layers within the ground.
