5.1 Anodizing
Anodizing is an electrolytic treatment that artificially thickens the alumina layer to a thickness of 5 to 25 µm for standard sulfuric acid anodizing, and even thicker for hard anodizing (Figure 7 ). It gives the metal a hard, smooth, and durable surface that can also be dyed.
