The installation of these tiles is covered in NF DTU 40.21 P1-1 (October 2013) "Travaux de bâtiment – Couvertures en tuiles de terre cuite à emboîtement ou à glissement à relief – Part 1-1: Cahier des clauses techniques types".
These interlocking relief tiles (figure 14) are the most widely manufactured and used clay tiles in France, from north to central France, not forgetting the Rhone corridor and the Mediterranean coast. There was a huge variety of these tiles, with over a hundred different models of "lozenge" tiles alone.
