Different types of parquet
Parquet floors

The main types of parquet flooring can be grouped into several categories.

• Nail-down solid wood floors

  They are made up of solid wood slats, generally between 12 and 23 mm thick, of various lengths and widths (depending on the species and designs to be produced), joined by tongue and groove (figure 1 ).

• Mosaic parquet

  They are made of small wooden strips (5 mm thick, 120 to 150 mm long, 20 to 25 mm wide) simply joined together to form flat panels. They are designed to be glued to the floor, either directly or with an insulating underlay to improve acoustics. To facilitate installation, the panels are factory-assembled in a variety of decors...
