ERP fire safety - Technical instruction no. 247 on triggering mechanisms for fire-resistant closing devices and smoke extraction systems

Damper – Automatically or manually operated shut-off device placed at the end of a duct, which can be opened or closed in the standby position.

Valve – Shut-off device located inside a duct, normally in the open position.

Door and curtain – Movable device that pivots or moves vertically or sideways, restoring fire-retardant or flame-retardant quality to the wall through which it passes. The direction of fire is generally defined.

Smoke vent and façade opening – Device allowing free communication with the outside at the time of the incident.

Line control – Arrangement for continuously checking that all electrical circuits controlling dampers, flaps, doors, curtains,...
