Roof terraces: pathology of water tightness

A further distinction must be made between two cases:

• preservation of the old cladding, which can be: slate, colored aggregate, or covered with loose protection (gravel) or heavy protection (e.g. slabs). If the load-bearing element has been verified (concrete, steel, wood), in accordance with the preliminary stability study, no further verification is required (except in the case of floating slabs, or slopes built on insulating panels);

• removal of the old cladding: if the load-bearing element complies with the reference DTU or Avis Technique in force, it is kept as it is, and the waterproofing membrane and insulation are removed. If the load-bearing element does not comply with its standard, it must undergo the necessary repair work.
