3. Observation with unknown inputs
The second aspect of observation concerns the possible presence of unknown inputs in the system. These unknown inputs are unmeasured external variables, such as disturbances or faults, which influence the behavior of internal variables or measurements. The model used in this section, which can be reduced to a more general model (Box 6), is of the form :
