3. Robots in industry
Different structures have been used and have competed with each other since the appearance of the first industrial robots. Each manufacturer, depending on his core business, his habits or his convictions, defended his structure.
3.1 Frequently used robots
Currently, the most frequently encountered robots are anthropomorphic polyarticulated structures or SCARA (selective-compliance-assembly-robot-arm) structures.
The anthropomorphic structure is generally a series of rotoid joints (pivots), with 6 degrees of freedom. These robots come in all sizes, and can have large work volumes. They handle loads ranging from a few dozen grams to several hundred kilograms. This is the type of robot most frequently calibrated in industry.
