Aging
A gradual decrease in permittivity over time.
Slurry
A paint made from ceramic powders suspended in an organic binder.
Dielectric breakdown
The formation of an electric arc between the electrodes, which leads to the breakdown of the dielectric.
Connections/contacts; connections
Conductive terminals located on the outside of a capacitor that allow it to be soldered onto circuits and ensure electrical contact.
Derating; derating
A reduction, under certain environmental conditions, in the electrical charge applied to the capacitor.
Dielectric
An insulating material located between the electrodes, whose polarization enables the storage of electrical charges.
Electrodes/armatures; electrodes
Conductive parts inside a capacitor that allow electric current to flow and charge or discharge the capacitor.
