1. Principles
Charge-coupled devices are integrated circuits that operate thanks to two simple phenomena:
storage of electrical charges in a semiconductor material ;
the possible movement of these charges in said material under the effect of an electric field.
1.1 Load storage
The advent of MOS (Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) technologies, developed for the manufacture of integrated circuits, has made it possible to produce very small electrical elements with very high impedances - MOS capacitors.
