When inserted and soldered components, e.g. wave soldered, are to be installed on a printed circuit board, the minimum hole grid generally adopted is 2.54 mm, which corresponds exactly to 0.1 in. In fact, the pitch of the output pins on components of this type is only 2.54 mm.
