2. Resonant cavities
The study of dielectric resonators, the electromagnetic fields present and resonance modes is based on that of resonant cavities, filled or not with homogeneous dielectric [E1402].
Transverse electrical resonance modes (TE) or transverse magnetic resonance modes (TM) can be excited at frequencies fr satisfying the equations below for each type of cavity, whether parallelepipedic or cylindrical.
