6.1 Special instructions
DSPs are equipped with instructions to facilitate the most common processing operations encountered in digital signal processing: squares, square roots, absolute value, etc.
SQRA (Square and Accumulate Previous Product ) and SQRS (Square and Substract Previous Product ) on the C50.
ABS on 56000 or C50 returns the absolute value. Processing of the most negative value (10...0) depends on the type of saturation processing. In the C50, if the OVM bit is set to 1, the value returned is 7FF...F instead of 10...0 in the case of OVM = 0.
