Doppler effect; Doppler effect
Modification of the frequency of a wave emitted by a source as it moves.
Hartman effect; Hartman effect
Propagation of a particle through a tunnel barrier. Its "apparent" speed seems to exceed the speed of light in a vacuum. In reality, this is a consequence of quantum mechanics.
Goos-Hänchen effect; Goos-Hänchen shift
Offset of a wave on reflection from a material surface in which it cannot propagate.
Cherenkov effect; Cerenkov effect
Offset of wavefronts produced by an object moving at a speed greater than the speed of light in a medium.
Tunneling effect
