2.1 Intrinsic and extrinsic transistors
As in the previous section, transistor operation is generally described for the intrinsic component shown in figure 1 . This intrinsic part is connected to the other circuit elements via extrinsic elements, which make up the transistor's architecture. This architecture will have a direct influence on the transistor's performance. The architecture consists of two main elements, illustrated in figure
