5. Photomixing for applications up to terahertz

For general principles of the photomixing function, please refer to the article [E 3 332] in Techniques de l'Ingénieur.

Photomixers are heterodyne optical components that generate an electromagnetic wave with a frequency in the terahertz range from two optical waves of slightly different wavelengths. In general, the wavelength of these sources is in the visible or infrared (IR) range. The conversion principle is based on the detection of the temporal interference created by the two optical beams
