3. Standardizing disturbances
There is as yet no official international standard defining RFI (radiated disturbance) and EMI (conducted disturbance). Existing standards are defined by a number of national bodies, but the current trend in European countries is towards unification.

The main organizations are :
IUT (International Telecommunication Union) defines and implements treaties. It controls RFI at international level. Its offices are under the authority of the United Nations;
