1. Organic light-emitting diodes

An organic light-emitting diode (OLED) is a device consisting of one or more organic thin films (∼ 100 nm) inserted between two perpendicular electrodes (figure 1 ). Light is generated by passing electric current through the organic layers, over the area where the electrodes intersect.
