Beamforming laws are amplitude/phase laws that are used to modify the shape of radiation patterns.

In determining these laws, we must never forget that :

• any amplitude weighting on transmission reduces the microwave power generated by the antenna, while consumption remains more or less the same;

• the linear pointing law of the type (u ₀ x + v ₀ y ) operates a translation of the lattice factor in (u, v ) space but not in angle space. Thus:
