6. Penetration of shielded cables into electronic equipment
Cable shielding is the natural flow path for parasitic currents whose amplitude can vary from a few tens of milliamperes to a few kiloamperes.
The outer part of the shield acts as a source of interference to its external environment. In particular, this source can couple with the ground network of a piece of equipment and produce interference that can reach sensitive electronic components. To reduce the amplitude or eliminate them, we need to act on the topology of ground circuits and ensure proper use of shielding. The examples that follow relate to several scenarios in which the disturbance induced by the current flowing over a cable shield can change in extremely significant ratios.
