1. What is plastronics?
Referring to both functional plastic products and the processes used to manufacture them, the term plastronics is a catchword formed from the fusion of the terms "plastic" and "electronics". As such, plastronic parts are characterized by the combination of unique plastic properties (such as lightweighting or design flexibility) with electronic functionalities (e.g. sensor, actuator, antenna or routing). In this way, a plastronic part combines the mechanical and electronic functions of a complex product in a single subassembly.
