We consider an inverter-controlled induction motor with six on/off controllable elements (transistors, GTOs, etc.), placed in antiparallel with a diode. We won't go into detail here, referring the reader to other articles (e.g. [3] and [4]).

In this case, the equivalent circuit consists of six bidirectional switches, as shown in figure 11. The inverter is supplied by a DC source, symbolized by two points at potentials E/2 and – E/2 with respect to an unshown ground.
