10. Evaporator defrosting
When the cold room temperature is close to or below 0°C, the evaporator is covered with frost, which progressively reduces the heat transfer coefficient, impairs the system's energy performance and, secondarily, reduces the air flow rate. The evaporator must be defrosted, i.e. heated above 0°C to melt the frost.
