3. Internal equipment
This refers to the equipment inside the vessel, with the exception of the nuclear fuel.
Internal equipment performs the following functions
support and lateral holding of fuel assemblies ;
guidance of control clusters and instrumentation ;
coolant distribution to fuel assemblies and structures to be cooled.
3.1 Description
The internal equipment of PWRs comprises two sub-assemblies that can be extracted from the vessel (figure 6):
lower internal equipment ;
superior internal equipment.
