2. Description of the Flamanville 3 EPR
A general consensus has emerged, including with the safety authorities, that the EPR should be a pressurized water reactor of evolutionary design, i.e. directly derived from the most modern lines previously built and operated in France and Germany. This is the only choice that allows us to take full advantage of proven technology, while incorporating the lessons learned from the experience of nearly a hundred reactors built by Framatome and Siemens.
In addition, a number of general conditions have been specified for the construction of identical plants on many sites. Table

lists some of the most important of these for reactor design.
