1. General information on protection against electric shock

1.1 Definitions

The numbers following the term to be defined are the International Electrotechnical Vocabulary references.

  • Electric shock (826-03-01)

Pathophysiological effect resulting from the passage of electric current through the human body or that of a domestic or farm animal. .

This expression covers both direct contact (figure 1 ) and indirect contact. There is no difference in pathophysiological effect between the two types of contact, but the protective measures to be taken are very different....
