6. Insulators and insulating substrates
Their function is to insulate live conductors from masses which generally act as supports (e.g. metal frameworks). Their characteristics depend in particular on :
of the nominal mains voltage ;
station short-circuit current ;
the mechanical characteristics required;
the severity of site pollution.
