The tower used to measure meteorological parameters, usually installed by the national meteorological organization, must be described. Several standards must be met to validate the data to be used, including :

• measurement intervals of the order of 10 minutes or 3 hours at so-called synoptic times, when weather observers transmit an observation to their national center in a report giving a detailed account of the meteorological conditions (including wind measurements) prevailing at the station ;
