Thermodynamic solar plants

Concentrating solar power systems collect only direct solar radiation, whereas their non-concentrating flat-plate counterparts and photovoltaic systems also capture diffuse radiation. Direct solar radiation accounts for between 50% and 90% of total solar radiation. More abundant in a geographical zone commonly known as the "solar belt" shown in Figure 21 , the resource of direct solar radiation is considerable on a global scale.
