Hydrogen exists in three forms: gaseous, liquid and solid. On Earth, the most widely used forms of hydrogen are gaseous and solid, for applications in land and sea mobility, industry, electrification and agriculture. In space, more specifically in aerospace, hydrogen liquefied at -253°C is used to power rockets.

Solid hydrogen is still in the research phase and is being tested in Japan by McPhy for mobility purposes, with Japan's largest gas producer as a customer.

Hydrogen gas is the most widely used, and undergoes a thorough transformation before use.
