3. What are the obligations for imported/manufactured substances in storage?
If you import or manufacture a substance in a quantity equivalent to more than one tonne per year, you have the status of importer or manufacturer under the REACh regulations. As such, you must have pre-registered your substance in accordance with article 28 of the REACh regulation.
Please noteUnder REACh obligations, your non-EEA supplier may have appointed an exclusive representative. In this case, you are no longer considered responsible for importing the substance, but a downstream user.
If you wish to continue importing and/or manufacturing after the registration deadline laid down in Article 23 of the REACh Regulation, you must register your substance.
