1. What are the performance criteria?
Effectiveness is the ability of an MMR to fulfill the safety function for which it was designed. It is assessed in relation to a specific accident scenario, as the same MMR may have a different effectiveness depending on the intensity of the initiating event that "solicits" it.
Efficiency is expressed as a percentage, corresponding to the degree to which the safety function is fulfilled. In principle, when an MMR is correctly dimensioned, efficiency can reach 100%.
Example:
If a protective wall has been dimensioned to withstand a heat flux of 30 kW/m
2
for one hour, then its effectiveness will be 100% if the attacker's intensity is less than the dimensioning...
