4. Ecological processes at different scales
Since the aim is to achieve ecosystem functioning, we need to examine ecological processes at different scales, so as to integrate them as effectively as possible into the construction of a new urban system. For simplicity's sake, the main processes are presented here at two scales.
The aim here is to understand biodiversity at the scale of the plantation or site, taking into account the relationships between species, such as the formation of food chains*, mutualisms and competitions, and between species and their immediate environment.
