2. Biodiversity of mycorrhizal symbioses
Mycorrhizal associations are extremely abundant in the plant kingdom.
Current estimates suggest that 72% of plant species form a symbiosis
with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi of the Glomeromycetes family, 2%
of plants form ectomycorrhizal associations, 10% of plants form orchid
mycorrhizae and 1.5% of plants form mycorrhizae with Ericaceae (van
der Heijden et al., 2015
