The purpose of the municipal information file on major risks is to inform the population about existing risks and how to protect themselves against them. It is drawn up by the mayor on the basis of information provided by the prefect.

As the mayor draws up this document, it is important to ensure that there is a dialogue with him/her, in order to reassure elected representatives and the public. Ask for a meeting with the mayor and his or her departments, and for a copy of the draft document.
