Fire safety in road vehicles consists of few rules compared with the requirements applicable to other modes of transport. The rationale is that, in the event of a fire, it is possible to immobilize the vehicle and escape. However, this reasoning has its limits, particularly in the event of a fire starting as the result of an accident, or a fire starting in a tunnel.
