5. Conclusion
Consideration of the risk of explosion calls for varying degrees of precision in the modeling of effects. For some problems, defining a distance to an overpressure threshold will suffice, while for others, full characterization of the overpressure signal will be essential. Today, there are many tools available for dealing with this phenomenon.
In practice, two approaches are the most widely used today: analytical methods (particularly multi-energy) and CFD methods (FLACS in particular).
The main advantage of analytical tools is their speed of implementation. Although sufficient for certain applications, these tools do not model the entire explosion phenomenon, and are mainly concerned with air overpressures outside the explosion source.
