Blast wave propagation in tunnels

An explosion can have several origins:

• gas explosion ;

• bursting of a pressurized capacity ;

• explosion of a pyrotechnic charge ;

• dust explosion ;

• nuclear explosion ;

• etc.

All these explosions generate a pressure wave in the environment. Depending on the type of explosion, the waves will simply differ in intensity, duration and shape.

However, these waves obey the same laws of behavior, regardless of their origin.

While the subject of wave propagation in an unconfined environment has been the subject of numerous developments in simplified approaches, work on wave propagation in a confined environment has been relatively less widely disseminated.
